Description

They are perennial herbaceous plants, up to 5 meters high, with tuberiform roots or rhizomes. They possess twining (twisting) stems. The heart-shaped leaves (corded base) are long petiolate with deep veins. The flowers are inconspicuous, yellow / greenish, unisexual on the same plant.

Wild yam is recommended during menopause to counteract negative manifestations such as hot flashes, labile mood, osteoporosis, dryness of the skin and mucous membranes, resulting in vaginal dryness which can facilitate the onset of recurrent vaginitis and cystitis. Also useful as an adjuvant against dysfunctions of the female genital system due to hormonal imbalances
