Description

The catuaba is a small plant that produces yellow and orange flowers, and a small oval inedible fruit. It grows in northern Brazil and the Amazon rainforest. The Catuaba tree belongs to the Erythroxylaceae family, whose main gene, Erythroxylum, is contained in several species that are the source of cocaine. Catuba, however, does not contain some of the active alkaloids in cocaine.
