Description

shrub-small thorny tree with many thorny branches, reaching up to 2 – 3 meters in height with a thin ash-colored bark. The leaves are simple or composed with three ovate leaflets 1 to 5 centimeters long, 0.5 to 2.5 centimeters wide with an irregular toothed margin. Dioecious plant with specimens bearing male and hermaphrodite flowers and specimens with only female flowers. The flowers are red-pink with 4 small petals. The exudate from the bark is yellowish in color and has a balsamic odor.
